iphone screen replacement help?

i cracked my screen and just got the new screen im going to install the thing is that when i took apart the iphone the old screen had like a black rubber around it, is that necessary? because the new screen doesnt come with it? and if it does, does somebody know what is it called?

   Iphone crack

   Yes it is necessary, its a sealing gasket to prevent moisture from leaking into the device over time, with out it the edge of the screen will just be exposed also and may not be as tight.
