is there a way to jailbreak an iphone 3g that was bought already unlocked?

my friend wants me to jailbreak his iphone which he got last week. i know it is possible to do this but im afraid that since he bought his unlocked and is with t-mobile right now, that jailbreaking it might make it not work with t-mobile anymore. i just need to know is there any danger of that happening?

   yes the phone well broke and not work noone wants jailbroken unless your friend wants to broke his phone then go ahead do the jailbreak then but my kind and i have an iphone to dont ever do it k
