I dropped my iPhone 3G, which caused my screen to crack and I also cannot see anything on it. (The screen is completely white. The touching of it works however I cannot see anything meaning that I cannot read text messages or know what I am pressing, making having an iPhone almost useless.)

I have managed to claim about £270 off my home and contents insurance, which is only £75 off a new iPhone 3G. However I was wondering whether I could purchase an iPhone 3GS 16GB for £440 and put the sim card from my broken iPhone into it, so I can still use the same contract I have for that.

Is this possible? Because I would rather upgrade to a better iPhone now that I have the money from the insurance.
